Trend “life with style” awards

We’re looking forward to the annual Trend Life with Style awards this evening at Ardoe House Hotel. We’ve enjoyed the event for a number of years now, which has become a key part of the business calendar here in Aberdeen. It’s always really interesting to hear about the range of businesses that have been short-listed. The event is a glamorous affair and so, of course, we always enjoy seeing all the fabulous fashion.

Tonight we’ll be enjoying the evening at the Aberdeen Business School table with a number of guests including Ian and Kathleen Hawthorn (owners of McCalls), and Lisa McGirr (Marketing and PR Manager at John Lewis, Aberdeen). McCalls and John Lewis are hugely supportive of our Fashion Management programme, providing placements, projects and sponsoring student prizes. We’re hugely grateful for this support!

Scott Hunter and Campbell Urquhart (from Hampton Associates) will also be joining us at the event. We’ve been working with Hampton Associates for a couple of years now where they’ve provide fantastic creative and design input into our marketing, including our recent “top dog” campaign.

Here’s to an evening of style and business success!

70’s Style by Thea Porter

We had a fantastic time in London last week (a little sad it’s all over – until next year anyway). Here are some photos of the Thea Porter exhibit at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London, showcasing topical 70’s style.

We’d like to wish our fashionable followers all our very best wishes for 2015!

It’s our first week back in the office (or our fashion avenue as it’s become known) and we’re gearing up for some big events in 2015! This year, Aberdeen Business School celebrates its 50th anniversary and we’ll be celebrating in style with some “fabulous at fifty” themed events!

The first, our annual Affordable Style exhibition, will be launched on Thursday the 16th of April from 6pm at Aberdeen Business School. Entry is free but guests are encouraged to make a small donation to a chosen charity (or charities) during the evening. This event brings together first year Fashion, Events Management and Public Relations students who will work in teams to organise the event and raise funds and awareness for 12 charities. The students are given £10 per team and a designated charity and they’re tasked with choosing and styling a garment for the exhibition and planning some value adding initiatives for the night of the exhibition launch. For those who can’t make it to the launch, the exhibition will remain in the atrium for two weeks. We’re very excited to see what will be showcased this year! Here are some examples from previous years.

Our second event of the year is our annual student fashion show where our third years will work together in teams to organise and manage the project from start to finish! This year’s show will take place on Friday the 29th of May and will also include fiftieth anniversary twist. Here are some photos from last year’s Northern Lights themed fashion show.

More on both of these events will be revealed soon…
