This year, our first year Fashion Management, Events Management, International Tourism Management and Public Relations students came together to organise our annual fashion exhibition as part of a module Managing in the Creative Industries.
Each year, the students are given a brief and work in cross-cohort teams to organise a creative showcase. The teams are given £10 and tasked with choosing an outfit from an Aberdeen-based charity shop around which to style an exhibition. This year’s brief required the students to choose a non-traditional fashion destination (i.e. not Paris, London, New York or Milan) and use the event as an opportunity to showcase and promote that place.
The students chose a range of exciting destinations, including Berlin, Edinburgh, Seoul, Seville, Florence, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Moscow and Bangkok. Here are some of their visuals.
Can you guess the inspiration behind the cold weather-inspired look below?
Or the contemporary versus traditional style below?
What about this underground street-style look?
This last look is inspired by the Houses of Nyvan in Copenhagen as well as the Hygge lifestyle.
In case you are left confused or wondering about the imagery above, the answers are: 1) Moscow; 2) Edinburgh; and 3) Berlin.
